Burglary, Chase and More In University Park

A resident of the 3400 block of Purdue sent this about an incident that happened around midnight last night (or technically this morning).

Here’s what I heard-3400 block of Stanford a family’s car gets burglarized. Stanford family’s teenage son sees it happen and actually RECOGNIZES perpetrator as a neighbor (guy in 20’s, we believe). Chase ensues in vehicles. Thief is driving nice Accord. Off Hillcrest turns onto Purdue. Goes out of control, runs up on curb and smacks into car in driveway — almost hits house in 3400 block. Thief runs, leaves behind passenger. But they have thief’s car. Bag of weed in car. Passenger says he was just getting ride from bar. Thief is son of Parkies and likely an HP grad and now college student. I should say alleged thief. Alleged weed, etc.

Sounds like a wild story, right? But here’s what Chief Adams had to say.

This is an open investigation and I can only confirm that what you have is what I have.  No charges have been filed at this time as the detectives are still sorting out all the details.

As a founding member of PETOBOW(People for the ethical treatment of Bag of Weed), I see no relation w/ the crime and the Bag of Weed. The Bag of Weed was an innocent bystander. When will this unwarranted persecution cease?

In general, half of all burglaries are committed by someone you know. I don’t know if that statistic holds true in UP and HP. Chief might want to share his knowledge.

Uhh…not so much. At least not in PC or Dallas. In the last 3 years, we’ve been burglarized twice. Both times by Hispanics that we’ve never known or seen before.
