Beware: The Air Force is Coming

It looks like June Jones’ spread offense won’t be the only aerial attack at Ford Stadium Friday night.

Per UP spokesman Steve Mace, the Air Force will be coming to town as well. Four T-38 Talons will perform a flyover at the SMU- TCU game, right before the 7 p.m. kickoff Friday.

So if you see four supersonic jets barreling down Mockingbird Lane, have no fear. Okay we’ll allow a little fear, but no calling 911.

Awesome! My husband use to fly those, we’ll be watching for them. On another military related (?) note …the reason for the yellow ribbons on trees and flags on the 3300 block of Greenbrier? I have a son deployed at the moment, this was nice to see (and makes me miss my son even more).

Best flyover was at Ford in 2000 when SMU hosted Navy. 4 F-14s in full afterburner flew over, super low. Wow were they loud. I think that was the first game played in the new stadium.

Thanks for the heads-up. When this happened last year, I about cr*pped my pants, I was so startled.

@Loves the Hood! – surely not suggesting that A&M is the only school that has flyovers? They are everywhere, not just something exclusive to aggy.

@mk, same here, thanks for the warning.

Still confused why SMU would compete with a home HP game (I’m sure ESPN money had something to do with it). Somewhat sacreligious to compete with Friday night HS football, and might hurt the attendance (I know that I would have gone if not for the Scots game). Of course, there will probably be more TCU fans there anyway.

D- the game is sold out. And yes, the networks dictate the terms when it comes to mid-majors appearing on TV. That’s the reason for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday games.

Why can’t they let the neighbors know in advance of these flyovers? They are loud and scary if you aren’t expecting them and don’t know what is going on. Why is it too much to ask of SMU that they just let us know?

@mainzer, and how would they let you know? Go door to door? SMU is not a good neighbor to begin with. Anyone know how much a 4 Jet fly-over costs?
