White Rock Marathon to Pass Through HP Sunday

This is Phidippides, who ran from Marathon to Athens in 490 BC to inform Athenians of the victory over the Persians. He lost his shorts, shirt, shoes, and sweat-wicking baseball cap along the way.

The White Rock Marathon will pass through Highland Park on Sunday, Dec. 5 and traffic will be closed for the runners from 8-10 a.m. along the following route:

Fitzhugh to Lakeside
Lakeside to Beverly
Beverly to Abbott
Abbott to Cornell
Cornell to Airline

Careful! I hope the nekkidness shown in this picture won’t offend someone in the Plano ISD (ya know, the parents who are objecting to the Humanities textbook which shows ancient unclothed sculptures)! However, probably not much chance of those folks viewing this blog so we’re probably safe…

I just flew home from out of town and have been circling these runners for 30 minutes. Tge cops at every I intersection that I have tried have directed me to another intersection and none of the supposedly open intersections are passable. They have also said they are all confused because the course was changed at tge last minute. They were supposed to be through HP by 10, it is now 10:40 and no indication that it will be over anytime soon. I don’t think it is right to make these changes at the last minute and keep people from their homes. I also don’t understand why they can have one or two places where the runners have to stop and let local traffic through.
