Do You Have Camps on the Brain?

Folks, summer break is only four months away (that’s only 116 days!). I’m sure that you’re either sifting through a pile of camps brochures, furiously searching the web, and booking like a crazy person before spots at your child’s favorite camp fill up.

For those of you dead-set on sending your kid to camp this summer, I ask you this: Will you be shipping junior off to a stay-away camp, or is it day camp only for your kids? Which is better and why?

My daughter will be attending Camp Longhorn for her sixth summer. We send her there for many reasons but the two main ones are that she is an only child (she enjoys the communal living situation and it gets her out of her singleton comfort zone) and because we feel CLH fosters a great sense of confidence and personal growth in their campers. She loves it there!

M-Just skip the link if it’s too annoying. I find that views change as kids get older and I like hearing from returning campers and maybe those that are changing things up.

I loved going to camp as a kid. I went for 2 weeks and I always wished to stay longer! I got to swim in a natural creek fed lake, learn to ride horses, shoot a bow and arrow, climb a rock climbing tower, paint, make a fire, swim with friends, play sports and learned more about my spiritual life growing up. All of these things are positives in my life and I can’t complain about being “shipped away” for 2 weeks because it was the time of my life!
