Nemesis Confrontation For Lady Scots

Everything was going pretty well for the Highland Park girls soccer team last season. The Lady Scots were about to face district foe Rockwall for the third time in the third round of the playoffs.

Highland Park won the first two meetings by a combined score of 8-1. However, the Lady Jackets got the last laugh by ending the season for the Lady Scots with a 2-1 shootout win.

Fast-forward to tomorrow night. After already beating Rockwall, 4-2, earlier this season in a tournament, the Lady Scots (17-2-3) will get a chance to avenge last season’s postseason loss against the Lady Jackets (12-3-4) at 6 p.m. at Wildcat-Ram Stadium in Lake Highlands.

This time, it’s a fourth-round game. Highland Park is coming off a 6-0 pounding of Frisco Centennial in which Megan Gittins and Katie Martin scored two goals each. The Highland Park-Rockwall winner will face the Red Oak-Whitehouse winner in the regional semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.
