Who is The Mystery Knocker?

Last week, we got a comment on a pretty old blog post that read like this:

I would like to know who has been banging on my front door ( 5 loud knocks)and running off in the middle of the night or early AM hours , going on 2 years now. This AM it was before dawn, 6:00 AM and this was not even a Friday night.

Seems pretty innocuous, until you get to the part that it’s happened for two years. Anyone else have this experience? The post was on a post about crime in southern Highland Park, so that neighborhood may be the most affected. Thoughts?

I’m so sorry for the writer, but with that kind of consistency and duration, it sounds more like an auditory hallucination or a confusing waking dream, rather than a renegade knocker!

The last two mornings we’ve been awoken by loud thumps at the front of our house. Both times it was a bird hitting one of our windows and then passing out on the front lawn. Very mysterious…….

We have a robin who has gone nuts for our dining room window over the last few weeks. I guess maybe the bird sees its reflection in the window and is trying to defend its turf. I have closed the shades to try to reduce the reflection, to no avail. Man, this bird is persistent. And durable! No passing out for this robin. I read a column in the DMN Metro section a couple of weeks ago about the same thing.

Motion-triggered trail cameras with infrared flash devices are amazing things.

Isn’t a little weird that this guy is asking this question in a PCP blog post? I’d think the question might better be put to someone else. Like, say, maybe the cops?
