SMU Official Subjected to Stupid Questions

SMU's Brad Cheves (foreground) answers questions about an idiot in a crane (background).

I was on the outskirts of the press conference conducted yesterday afternoon by Brad Cheves, SMU’s vice president for development and external affairs, so I couldn’t quite hear the answers he gave to the media’s inane questions. But the stupidest question had to have been “What steps are you taking to ensure nothing like this happens again?”

First of all, this was a once-in-a-lifetime situation. Common sense tells you it will never happen again. Second of all, crazy is crazy. Is there some kind of foolproof, by-the-book plan that universities are supposed to follow to prevent an insane carjacker from ascending a construction crane and threatening to pull a Charles Whitman?
