UPPD Hosts Open Meeting For Accreditation

As a part of their verification from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies(CALEA), the University Park Police Department will be hosting a public information session at 7:00 p.m in City Hall.

The public information meeting is for residents to have the opportunity to openly comment about the UPPD as the department is seeking its re-accreditation with the program.

According to a press release, CALEA is in the process of examining the UPPD’s policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services to see if they meet the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards. Chief Gary Adams said their verification is a significant recognition of law enforcement professional excellence. Accreditation lasts three years, and UPPD received their initial accreditation through CALEA in March 2004.

If you have any comments for the department, be at the City Council Chambers at 7 p.m. Comments are also accepted via phone at 214.987.5606 on Dec. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m.
