Last week, the fifth-grade Destination Imagination team from MIS, named “Creativity to the Power of 6,” represented HPISD at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn. and took home the third place in Instant Challenge and seventh place in the world for Elementary Level Scientific Challenge. The team competed against 53 other teams and worked for nine months in preparation for the challenge.

In their scientific challenge, called “Going to Extremes,” the students researched an extreme environment where humans couldn’t live without science or technology and then created a prototype using technical methods to present in an eight-minute skit. All work was done without adult or non-team member assistance and was judged on teamwork, effectiveness, and creativity. Way to go, team!
