It’s that time of year, so the town of Highland Park initiated its ground-spraying plan for mosquitoes last night, and will spray again beginning at 8 p.m. tonight.

The town will spray around the pool area and unoccupied tennis courts from 8 to 10 p.m., then will do some truck-mounted ground spraying throughout town from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The town’s parks department, along with Dallas County Health and Human Services, monitors several mosquito traps within the town limits. While there has not been a positive mosquito sample for West Nile Virus thus far, the total number of mosquitoes in each trap has reached the treatable threshold as established by the town’s Mosquito Control Policy.

No specifics have been announced beyond this week for further spraying. But of course, stay inside and protect your pets, if possible, when the crews in your vicinity.
