New Exhibition Coming to Meadows Museum

A new exhibition of works by H.O. Robertson is coming to the Meadows Museum at SMU on Nov. 9 and will run until March 1, 2015. Robertson was a self-taught artist in Dallas in the 1930s and 1940s during the movement of Texas Regionalism.

A selection of his paintings, cliché verre plates, drawings, and lithographs will be featured, thanks to a gift from the artist’s family. His work displays a part of the history of art in Texas, drawing inspiration from his surroundings and the human condition.

Robertson’s work features images such as local scenes, rural farms, and rundown buildings. He interacted with other artists of the time like the Dallas Nine, and their influence is evident in his straightforward style.
