Tenet Healthcare Launches Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive

The Tenet Healthcare Corporation is holding its annual Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive from June 1 – 8.

The goal of the drive is to provide substantial breakfasts for children and families struggling with food insecurity during the summer.

The campaign is in support of Feeding America, a hunger relief organization with a nationwide network of local food banks and distribution partners.

As part of this initiative, Tenet is contributing a challenge grant of up to $100,000 in addition to any financial donations made to the drive.
“Too often, we see patients in our hospitals and outpatient centers, particularly children, who are struggling with the effects of hunger,” said Sally Hurt-Deitch, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at Tenet Healthcare.

“Summer is an especially hard time for food-insecure children because they can no longer rely on their schools for meals. We know that good health starts with good nutrition, which is why Tenet is proud to host its annual Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive during the first week of June.”

Last year, Tenet Healthcare announced that nationwide it had collected 3.2 million servings of cereal and nearly $310,000 for Feeding America® and its network of local food banks and pantries across the country.

More than 230 Tenet, Conifer Health and United Surgical Partners International facilities will conduct food drives and raise funds as part of the campaign.
