UPDATE: Crews Clamp Gas Line at Snider Plaza, Roads Reopen

UPDATE: 4:17 p.m.

Crews have clamped the cut gas line near Snider Plaza and most roads around the shopping center have reopened.

Only a short section of Westminster Avenue, just south of Tom Thumb, remained closed as Atmos Energy crews continued to work in the area, said Steve Mace, director of communications and marketing for University Park.

Earlier in the day, Tom Thumb, Benchmark Bank, and SpeeDee Oil Change & Auto were evacuated, and some streets near Snider Plaza have were closed after construction crews cut a gas line nearby.

The call came into University Park dispatch around 10:08 a.m.

Hillcrest Road was closed from Lovers Lane to Rankin Avenue; Lovers Lane was closed from Airline Road to Hursey Street; and the street Snider Plaza was closed from Lovers to Daniel Avenue.
