Park Cities Sign Language

Peaceful protests against police brutality reached the Park Cities following the death of George Floyd in custody in Minneapolis.

Demonstrators marched in what was dubbed a “peace walk” from Snider Plaza to Burleson Park the morning of June 6.

When the marchers reached the park, they knelt for around eight minutes, representing the time Officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck.

Then, June 8, an estimated 100 people gathered at Hillcrest Avenueand Lovers Lane for a peaceful rally organized by Highland Park High School rising senior Dharmashree Kikkeri. Older sister Anagha Kikkeri is featured this month’s Remarkable Women.

The problem with this little march, & all the bigger marches around the country, is that they are based on a Big Lie. The Big Lie is the idea that such a thing as “systemic racism” against blacks exists, that there is a police war on blacks, & the entire system is based on “white privilege.” Jim Crow segregation was outlawed by a series of Supreme Court decisions and federal and state laws over 50 yrs ago. In fact, legal, systemic racism against white people is now the entrenched norm, in Affirmative Action & other forms of minority favoritism programs in almost every institution in American society. FBI crime statistics show police do not shoot blacks – innocent, unarmed, or criminal – at a greater rate than whites, if the extremely high black violent crime rate (7X greater than the white violent crime rate) is taken into account. (And the role of black crime – the huge problem of blacks killing blacks – has been studiously ignored by both demonstrators & the media in the past two months.) The most ludicrous notion of all is “white privilege.” Asian immigrants & their children outperform native born whites in education, earnings and accumulated family wealth. That blacks lag far behind virtually every other group – including poor immigrant hispanics – cannot be blamed – in 2020 – on slavery, “systemic racism,” the police, or “white privilege.” The people out demonstrating need to examine the data, the facts, the history, for themselves, & not blindly accept what Rachel Maddow, 99% of the media, & their left-wing college professors tell them is true – it’s not, it’s a Big Lie.

I can’t speak for all the demonstrators, but I have done all of my homework. I’m not sure what big lie you’re referring to, but there is little truth to the conclusions that you’ve drawn.
