Follow Along For Election Night Results

After early voting wrapped up Tuesday, around five percent of all voters had snagged a stylus and picked a candidate – which means almost 90% were either waiting until today to make an important decision or (more likely) had no plans to vote at all.

That being said, we’ve been out today checking out polling places, and will begin covering election returns when early voting results are revealed shortly after 7 p.m.

You can follow us on Twitter for up-to-the-minute updates, at @PHollowPeople or @PCPeople. And then come back here toward the end of the evening, when we have reaction and outline which races will be headed to runoffs in June.

We’ll be updating this spreadsheet throughout the night, too.

Some candidates have already reacted to the outcomes of their races, including Dallas city council person Omar Narvaez.

Highland Park ISD place 1 candidate Doug Woodward said around 12:30 a.m. Sunday it appeared the results in his hotly contested race with Kelli Macatee were “final” and thanked his supporters in a post on his campaign Facebook page.

It’s been a long race and a long night but it appears the results have gone final. I have so many of you to thank for…Posted by Doug Woodward For HPISD on Saturday, May 1, 2021

In unofficial results, Woodward received 58.03% of the vote (or 4,838 votes) to Macatee’s 41.97% (or 3,499 votes).

“Victory comes in many forms and we experienced a great victory over these few months. We raised awareness and asked many, many important questions worth asking. Incredibly gifted people came together who are hungry for that which is good and right and just,” Macatee said. “We have only just begun our efforts to engage locally. I wish my opponent all the best as he moves forward in this important role. A lot of wonderful things have come to light and that is a good thing! I’m excited for what the future holds and am honored to represent my incredible supporters!”

About 10% of registered voters in the county cast ballots in Saturday’s election.

We will have more reaction, plus a breakdown of how neighborhoods voted, soon.
